PPL Corporation Submits Rate Adjustment Request to Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission
AVISTA SUBmits REQUEST FOR RATE ADJUSTMENT IN WASHINGTON
Spokane, WA - Avista, a leading energy company, has submitted a request to the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission (WUTC) to adjust its rates for electric and natural gas services in the state.
According to the request, Avista is seeking to increase its rates by $14.3 million, or 6.3%, for electric services, and by $2.5 million, or 4.8%, for natural gas services. The requested rate adjustments are intended to recover increased costs associated with maintaining and improving the company's infrastructure, as well as investing in new technologies and services for its customers.
The request comes as Avista continues to invest in its grid modernization efforts, including the deployment of advanced smart grid technologies, which will enable more efficient and reliable service to customers. The company is also seeking to recover costs associated with the construction of new transmission lines and substations to support the growing demand for energy in the region.
"We believe that this rate adjustment request is reasonable and necessary to ensure that we can continue to provide safe, reliable, and affordable energy services to our customers," said Mark Thies, Avista's Senior Vice President and Chief Customer Officer. "We are committed to being a responsible and responsive energy company, and we believe that this request will help us to achieve that goal."
The WUTC will review Avista's request and hold a public hearing to gather input from customers and stakeholders. The commission will then make a decision on the requested rate adjustment.
Avista has been serving customers in Washington for over 130 years and is one of the largest energy companies in the state. The company provides electric and natural gas services to more than 400,000 customers in central and eastern Washington.
